Nurses Week 2026

If you’re a nurse, you already know the feeling.
You can leave a long shift physically exhausted… and still find yourself lying in bed replaying the day.
The patient you’re still thinking about. The tasks you didn’t get to. The quiet question that lingers: “Did I do enough?”
This isn’t a lack of discipline. It’s not poor time management. And it’s not something as simple as “just relax.”
It’s your nervous system.
After nearly 15 years working as a registered nurse in NICU, mother-baby, pediatrics, and trauma step-down, I experienced this firsthand.
Nursing trains your mind and body to stay in a constant state of awareness:
anticipating problems
responding quickly
holding emotional and physical responsibility for others
Over time, that state becomes your baseline.
So when you finally have a moment to rest…your mind doesn’t immediately follow.
For me, that showed up as:
overthinking at night
difficulty falling or staying asleep
second-guessing decisions
and a persistent feeling of “not doing enough”
What changed wasn’t my schedule.
It was learning how to work with my mind and nervous system in a different way.
Through clinical hypnotherapy, I learned how to shift out of that constant stress response and into a more regulated, calm state.
Now, alongside my work as a nurse, I’m able to be fully present in my life—whether that’s scuba diving, salsa dancing, sailing, or simply enjoying a quiet moment without my mind racing.
This is the work I now offer to other nurses.
Clinical hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis. It’s a focused, evidence-informed approach that helps retrain the mind and body to access calmer, more regulated states.
For nurses, this can support:
improved sleep
reduced overthinking
increased confidence in clinical and personal decisions
and relief from the ongoing sense of mental and emotional overload
During Nurses Week, it’s important to acknowledge something that often gets overlooked:
Nurses are incredibly skilled at taking care of others…but rarely receive the tools to take care of their own mental and emotional state.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected from yourself, support is available.
And it may be simpler—and more effective—than you think.
